The incoming physician joins an established Child Neurology team at Ochsner Health, based primarily at the Michael R. Boh Center for Child Development at 1319 Jefferson Hwy in New Orleans. The team covers the full spectrum of pediatric neurology, with epilepsy subspecialty coverage already in place. APPs carry independent patient panels and take call, giving physicians meaningful workload support in both clinic and the hospital.

APPs manage their own patient panels, assist with physician follow-up, take call, and handle consults independently.

Collaborative Partners

The Child Neurology team works closely with the following specialists for epilepsy surgery evaluation and complex case management:

  • Neurosurgery: Two dedicated pediatric neurosurgeons on staff
  • Neuroradiology: Integrated into the epilepsy surgery evaluation process
  • Neuropsychology: Part of the surgical evaluation team
  • Social Work: Embedded support for patients and families

Team Environment

The program operates with a collaborative, consultative model. Hospitalists manage admissions and serve as the primary inpatient team, calling on epileptologists for consults. This structure keeps physician focus on complex neurology cases rather than general admitting responsibilities. The team is actively growing, with plans to add at least four Child Neurologists ahead of the 2027 Children's Hospital opening.
