Position Overview

Understanding the Role

A Practice Where You Shape the Future of Cancer Care

Imagine walking into a cancer center where you are the cornerstone of hematology and oncology services for an entire region. At Ivinson Memorial Hospital's Meredith & Jeannie Ray Cancer Center in Laramie, Wyoming, you will step into a role that combines clinical autonomy with genuine support, treating the full spectrum of hematologic and oncologic conditions in an outpatient setting designed around physician well-being and patient-centered care.

This single-physician Hem/Onc practice serves a community that genuinely needs you. Patients throughout southeastern Wyoming and beyond rely on this cancer center for comprehensive care close to home, rather than traveling hours to Denver or other metropolitan centers. You will provide that care with the backing of an experienced team, modern infrastructure, and a collaborative network that extends to tertiary centers when complex cases demand it.

The practice has room to grow. Leadership anticipates potential expansion to 1.5 FTE as patient volume and community needs evolve, meaning you will have the opportunity to shape how this program develops. Whether you prefer to build something larger or maintain a sustainable solo practice with strong support, the flexibility exists to align the role with your professional goals.

  • Specialty Focus: Full-spectrum Hematology and Medical Oncology
  • Practice Model: Single-physician practice with growth potential (may evolve to 1.5 FTE)
  • Setting: Outpatient-based at the Meredith & Jeannie Ray Cancer Center
  • Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM clinic hours
  • Patient Volume: Approximately 14 patients per day with 2 to 4 new consults daily
  • Case Mix: Currently approximately 60% Hematology and 40% Oncology (historically has ranged to 60% Oncology)
  • Complex Case Management: AML, post-transplant patients, and other complex cases coordinated through tertiary centers
  • Board Requirements: Board certification or board eligibility in Hematology and Medical Oncology

You will practice in an environment where leadership values stability, operational support flows naturally, and the culture prioritizes collaboration over competition. This is a role for a physician who wants to make a tangible difference in a community while maintaining the balance that makes a long career sustainable.
